I'm a Professor of Psychology at Florida Atlantic University and Associate Director of the [Center for the Future Mind](https://www.fau.edu/future-mind/). I direct the [Machine Perception and Cognitive Robotics Lab](https://mpcrlab.com/). My research program is built around a single idea: that cognition is autoregressive generation over learned distributional structure. I use large language models not as metaphors for the brain but as existence proofs --- demonstrations of what sequential prediction over learned patterns can accomplish without the machinery that cognitive science traditionally assumes is required. This work sits at the intersection of cognitive science, computational linguistics, philosophy of mind, and AI. I'm developing theoretical papers, running empirical experiments, and building tools to test the framework's predictions. I also write about these ideas on [Substack](https://substack.com/@generativebrain) and discuss them on the [Theory of Everything Podcast](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A36OumnSrWY).
